ORIGINS OF THE CERAMIC SEBASTIAN PEREZ

Sebastian Perez Ceramic, located in the Northwest of the Region of Murcia, is located in the small town of Valentin, a small town settled, as its name suggests (VAL, valley, LENTIN, mud, mud valley) over a zone of rich clays, marl from the decomposition of aluminous rocks and silicates with great absorption of water.

The beginning of ceramics in this area must date back to the Late Bronze Age, some 3,800 years ago, although there are vestiges of the Neolithic period in the nearby Sierra de La Puerta (6,000 years ago). The origin of Valentin is roman, in century I a. C and its history is linked to ceramics mainly. We received visits from colleges, universities, working groups from many countries through the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia, etc., interested in our history and our know-how, which in very little has changed from our predecessors.
Clay + water + biomass: they are the only elements that intervene in our products and that our hands combine in their right measure.
In Sebastian Perez, through its eight generations, we worked these rich clays with our hands, in the same way as our ancestors, with a totally handmade manufacturing process, making bricks, tiles and roof tiles with some technical characteristics, that always have had them, are very precious in the construction and decoration of our days, such as, among others, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation, durability, freezing, resistance to compression, etc. Special mention to the boom of the bio-construction in which our products have great acceptance, 100% natural, ecological. Another aspect to take into account is the baking of our products, these are cooked with biomass (orujillo, almond shell, ...) which, together with the characteristics of the clays, provide an authentic, genuine, showy and very personal flamed, each of the pieces that makes them unique, none is equal to another in this sense. These tones range from straw, pink, salmon to reddish, which in the final product provide a random combination of very pleasant tones, comforting peace and tranquility to the senses.

As manual products we adapt to the needs of the client, especially in the restorations of old buildings, Making exact reproductions of existing parts, etc., special mention should be made of the manufacture of innumerable pieces for the city of Pompeii and Royal Palace of Caserta, both a World Heritage Site by Unesco or Palazzo Barberini in Rome, among others..

DO YOU KNOW THE CONCEPT OF PASSIVE HOUSE?

"A Passive House is a building, for which thermal comfort can be achieved solely by post-heating or post-cooling of the fresh air mass which is required to achieve sufficient indoor air quality conditions."
Dr. Wolfgang Feist

Passive house (German: Passivhaus) is a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

Passive Houses do not look any different from other buildings. However, on account of their clearly defined energy standard, they exhibit a high level of thermal comfort and extremely low energy consumption. Good planning as well as careful execution of the details is essential in the construction of Passive House buildings. This ensures that the high requirements for the building envelope and technology can be met. As a result, designers and specialist planners need additional expertise which can be acquired and substantiated with the Certified Passive House Designer/Consultant training course.

In Spanish Ceramic Sebastian Perez we manufacture terracotta floortiles suitable for bio-construction and used in passive houses (Passivhaus). Our 100% bio handmade tiles optimize the energy consumption of houses. Especially suitable for underfloor heating.
